West Valley Detention Center is mostly pre-sentenced inmates. Therefore, most of the guests in the San Bernardino Jail are waiting for the resolution on their criminal cases. The West Valley Detention Center also houses maximum security inmates awaiting capital case trials.
Currently at the West Valley Detention Center there are 612 staff members. These members are there to keep the facility running 24 hours a day, processing inmates, transferring them from cell to cell and from other detention centers, providing medical help if necessary.
